Startling statistics for research libraries
Wednesday, July 18th, 2007Peter Brantley, director of the Digital Library Federation, blogs here about recent statistics for research libraries (mainly college and university ones) showing downward trends in the past decade for both reference questions and number of items checked out by students. These are interesting graphs, and they add to the eternal debate about whether libraries are thriving or endangered in the new digital world. Check out the comments to Brantley’s blog post, too–they definitely add to the discussion.
